Psychosocial Safety
QRMC can assist organisations to manage the psychosocial safety and wellbeing of workers as part of their WHS Management program and check regulatory compliance in this developing space.
The management of psychosocial safety became a formal obligation of management with changes to Queensland WHS legislation in 2023, with the WHS Regulation 2011 amended to impose a duty to manage Psychosocial risks, and the Managing the Risk of Psychosocial Hazards at Work Code of Practice 2022 adopted.
Achieving compliance with the legislative requirements, and the minimisation of psychosocial risks, generally takes more than offering employees access to an Employee Assistance Scheme (EAP) and relying on Mental Health First Aiders.
QRMC can assist WHS managers and PCBUs (‘persons conducting a business or undertaking’) to take a proactive approach to managing their psychosocial hazards through the application of risk management processes to identify, assess and recommend control measures to assist in the prevention (and mitigation) of the impacts of psychosocial hazards.
Some ways in which QRMC can work with your organisation include:
- Checking if appropriate monitoring processes are in place to give management confidence in the early identification of psychosocial risks.
- Reviewing the effectiveness of controls.
- Assessing the accuracy and value of reporting processes.
- Assessing compliance with legislative requirements.
